Rasheedat Ajibade, Chiamaka Nnadozie and Asisat Oshoala are in Nigeria’s confirmed 28-player group for the Super Falcons’ opening step on the road to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. The first leg against Comoros is scheduled for Friday, 9 October, with the return on Tuesday, 13 October.
Augustine Eguavoen is in interim charge, supported by Christopher Danjuma, Ayisat Yusuf and goalkeeper trainer Olatunji Baruwa. The names give Nigeria experience through the spine, while younger players including Christiana Uzoma, Shakirat Moshood and Janet Akekoromowei have a route into the group.
The practical detail for fans is venue. The NFF says: “Both matches will be played at the Remo Stars Sports Stadium, Ikenne-Remo,” because Comoros do not have a CAF-approved international venue. The away-first-leg label therefore does not mean a long trip or a changed Nigerian kick-off routine.
Nigeria entered in the second round as one of the higher-ranked sides, while Comoros reached this stage after beating Sudan. That should not encourage shortcuts. Two-legged qualifying rewards clear game management, especially before the Super Falcons have a settled permanent head coach.
Ajibade’s leadership, Nnadozie’s experience and the variety of forward options make this a squad worth following now, not just on match day. The immediate question is who gets the first chance to turn camp selection into a composed opening-leg performance. Which player should start Nigeria’s Olympic qualifying campaign?
