Bruno Fernandes has won the 2026 men's PFA Players' Player of the Year award. England Football's awards report confirms the result, while the PFA explains that the prize is decided by votes from fellow players in the same league.
The peer vote gives this award a different character from a panel prize or a public poll. Opponents are judging the player they prepared to face across the season, and Fernandes was selected from a six-man shortlist that also included Rayan Cherki, Erling Haaland, Gabriel Magalhães, David Raya and Declan Rice.
The award completes a major individual treble after Fernandes was also named Premier League Player of the Season and Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year. The Premier League credited him with 20 assists, matching the single-season record.
Nico O'Reilly won the men's young-player award and Bunny Shaw the women's senior prize. Those results deserve their own recognition rather than being treated as footnotes to one headline.
