The Nigeria Football Federation has confirmed that Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme will oversee its secretariat as interim General Secretary, with Dr Ademola Olajire serving as interim Deputy General Secretary. The appointments follow the resignations of NFF president Ibrahim Musa Gusau, general secretary Mohammed Sanusi and the executive committee.
The federation also says preparations for the elective congress previously scheduled for 27 September have been suspended. A fresh electoral process is expected only after the proposed reforms and consultations with FIFA, CAF, government and other stakeholders.
The immediate job is continuity. National-team programmes, league administration and regulatory work cannot wait for a long political settlement. The NFF says league executives have been directed to hand administration to chief operating officers, subject to the federation’s staffing rules.
Supporters should now watch for four verifiable steps: a published transition roadmap, a clear legal basis for interim decisions, protected sporting programmes and a transparent timetable for the new electoral process.
The appointments are confirmed; the eventual governance structure is not. PitchNaija will treat any names linked with permanent roles as unconfirmed until an official announcement is published.
