Nigeria Football Federation president Ibrahim Musa Gusau and general secretary Mohammed Sanusi resigned on Thursday, while the NFF said every member of its executive committee had also stepped down. The federation linked the departures to national dissatisfaction following recent results by Nigeria's representative teams.
The official statement says Gusau left 34 days before the end of his four-year tenure. It also records his view that resignation should clear the way for an orderly reform process addressing governance, institutional and developmental problems in Nigerian football.
Five questions now matter: who holds lawful interim authority, how the transition timetable will be communicated, how ongoing national-team programmes will be protected, whether reform milestones will be public, and how clubs, players, coaches and state associations will be represented.
A change of personnel is not automatically a change of system. Supporters should look for verifiable decisions: the constitutional route for succession, published dates, transparent responsibilities and continuity for football programmes that cannot simply pause.
