UEFA confirms Milan host Benfica on Wednesday 16 September at 8:00pm WAT in the opening round of the Europa League league phase.
The central tactical question is what happens immediately after possession changes. If either midfield pushes too many players beyond the ball, the opponent can attack the central lane before the block resets.
Milan may use the crowd to start aggressively; Benfica must escape that first wave cleanly. This is PitchNaija tactical analysis of a confirmed fixture, not a lineup or result prediction.
