The Nigeria Football Federation has appointed Dr Ayo Abdulrahaman as chief operating officer of the Nigeria Premier Football League with immediate effect. The official announcement came as the new season began with Shooting Stars against newly promoted Inter Lagos.
The NFF says the appointment follows its directive for league board members, chief executives and chief operating officers who are not federation staff to vacate their positions during the wider governance transition.
The immediate responsibility is operational continuity. Fixtures, registrations, officiating processes, disciplinary administration and communication with clubs cannot pause while the national governance structure is being reworked.
The next test is transparency. Clubs and supporters need clear responsibility lines, published competition decisions and predictable communication when fixtures or regulations change.
